1599: Empires of Blood

In 1599, empires rise and fall in a world where magic mingles with science, and ambition drives kingdoms to the brink of destruction. The Holy Roman Empire is engaged in a bitter war with the Ottoman Empire, while Queen Elizabeth celebrates her victory over Philip II and the Spanish Armada. As the Renaissance spreads, the boundaries of knowledge and power are pushed to their limits.

Within the royal halls of Prague, Emperor Rudolph II faces the monumental task of balancing a vast royal collection of wonders with the demands of an ongoing war. Surrounded by astronomers, alchemists, and magicians from across Europe, he is drawn deeper into a mysterious world where ambition, intrigue, and madness collide. But as his empire crumbles and his reign falters, a dark force rises within Hungary.

Countess Elizabeth Bathory, obsessed with immortality and the preservation of her youth, descends into a reign of terror, turning her castle into a twisted sanctuary of murder and torture. Two outsiders, an English teacher and a young, ambitious soldier arrive in eastern Europe seeking fame and fortune; however, they soon realize the horrors hidden within the shadows. ‘Empires of Blood’ explores ambition, betrayal, and human depravity; set in a time when science and superstition collide and history is written in blood.
